TRANSLATION QUALITY IN INTERNATIONAL LARGE- SCALE ASSESSMENTS IN EDUCATION

During the last 20 years, large-scale international assessments in education became part of research. The increased number countries participating studies PISA, TIMSS, and PIRLS translation their assessment instruments many languages world is accompanied by request to ensure quality. Translation quality its management are an important concern for TIMMS, PIRLS. linguistics control centres have developed policies, standards, procedures. This paper aims present policy procedures implemented 20-years. focused on need illustrates how practice. based guidelines, secondary data from technical reports these studies, recent research findings. concludes that suitable used provided a high translated has enabled comparison results. article also highlights PISA's, TIMSS's, PIRLS's contribution development theory practice educational materials.
